SSC students get taught the SSC way

Kalewadi has a strong Maharashtra board presence, and SSC students are the ones most often short-changed by coaching classes that teach every board from one common set of notes. The SSC paper has its own structure, its own internal choice, and — crucially — its own marking style, where method carries marks even when the final answer slips.

We teach SSC students from Balbharati, in the board's own chapter sequence, with test papers in the actual SSC format. Students learn to write solutions the way Maharashtra board examiners read them: formula stated before substitution, one step per line, diagrams labelled, units carried through. For a student who has never been shown this, it is often worth a full grade band on its own.

English-medium and semi-English students from Kalewadi sit comfortably in the same batches — the teaching medium is English, with explanations switched to Marathi whenever a concept lands better that way. No child is left behind because of the language a definition happened to be phrased in.

The batch is small enough that your child is actually seen

The most common thing Kalewadi parents tell us about their previous class is that nobody noticed their child falling behind until the term result arrived. That is not a teaching failure so much as an arithmetic one — in a room of sixty, homework cannot be individually checked and a quiet student will not be asked.

Our batches are deliberately small. Written work comes back marked with a comment rather than a tick, doubts are cleared the day they appear, and Shubhada Ma'am knows which chapter each student is shaky on without having to look it up. Parents hear from us when marks move — in either direction — rather than at the end of the term.

Class 10 Maths: the Super 25 batch

For Class 10 we teach Mathematics only, in a batch capped at 25 students. It is a deliberate narrowing rather than a limitation: Maths is the subject that moves a board percentage the most, and a single-subject batch of 25 gets a depth of preparation that a five-subject batch of eighty cannot.

The board year runs to a plan — early syllabus completion, chapter-wise testing, previous-year papers under time limits, then full-length mocks in the final months, with an error log that each student actually revisits. Kalewadi students who join in Class 9 arrive at the board year needing revision rather than repair, which is the difference between a comfortable 90 and a stressful 70.

Foundation years matter more than they look

Most of the difficulty we see in Class 9 and 10 students began in Classes 6 to 8 — sign errors across brackets, shaky fractions, factorisation never properly learned. These gaps are cheap to fix at the time and expensive to fix later.

For younger Kalewadi students we focus on exactly this: fundamentals repaired early, a written-working habit built while the sums are still short, and enough regular revision that older chapters stay alive. It is unglamorous work, and it is the reason our board-year students are not starting from scratch.
